If you are from Australia, then you are probably familiar with the most anticipated sporting events in Australia. If you are not, then here you go.
Footy Grand finals
When we say footy here in Australia, we are not talking about football or soccer. Footy here has a whole new meaning, actually, meanings. There are two distinct and very different football codes here, the Australian Football League (AFL) and National Rugby League (NRL).
The AFL and NRL grand finals are like the Super Bowl in the US. Everyone in Australia tunes in to watch the action live. The AFL grand finals take place during the last Saturday of September at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
NRL grand finals, on the other hand, are scheduled every year during the first weekend of October at the ANZ Stadium Sydney. So, if you are ever in Sydney or Melbourne during these timelines, make sure to go for it.
Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race
On boxing day, December 26, you might want to see one of the biggest sporting events here in Australia at the Sydney Harbour. The Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race is not only a sporting event but also a family event as it was built on the family tradition.
The race covers a 630 nautical mile race over 5 days and is one of the most challenging yacht races in the world.
Yet another race but this time, on land and with horses. Melbourne Cup is a day for Australians to sit-back relax, wear dapper dan suits for men and colourful outfits with hats for women, and then watch an amazing horse race.
